Help needed with abbreviation

Gents,

in a combat report i ran across the following abbreviation

"... a probable S/E fighter..."

What's the meaning of it?

Re: Help needed with abbreviation

Sealander,

aaah - OK. Albeit somehow strange because losses (from other crews observed and reported) occured night time in January 1945.
Nonetheless thank You very much for switching a light on in my brain.

Re: Help needed with abbreviation

s/e = single engined (commonly used in RAF wartime papers), also …
t/e = twin engined
m/e = multi engined (I think)
