Re: 349 Sqn Tempests at RAF Predannack, Feb - Apr 1945

The 3 volumes of "From sunrise till sunset are" are based on the squadrons ORB,
A few notes from the Tempest era,

24th Feb 45, 3 new Tempests arrive.
25th Feb 45, 3 more Tempests arrive,
2nd Mar 45, Tempest flown away by ATA, as are 485 Squadrons.

Typhoons
4th to 6th Mar 45, no flying as the 3 Typhoons are being used by 485 Sq.
10 Mar 45, We now have 2 Typhoons.
16 Mar 45, Only 1 a/c serviceable.

349 Sq Typhoons,
EJ 975, 24 Feb 45-14 Apl 45
EK 196, 24 Feb 45-14 Apl 45.
EK 240, 24 Feb 45- Abandoned over the sea, 3rd Apl 45.
EK 492, 10 Mar 45- 14 Apl 45.
EK 512, 10 Mar 45- 14 Apl 45.

Typhoons EJ 975, EK 492, and EK 512 are recorded as serving with both Squadrons.

Afraid the volumes contain no photographic evidence of this period.

Regards John G.
