Einsatzarbeiter

Hello everybody,

In the short bio of Theodor Blaich (thanks Harry and Doug) I can read that he transfered to I./ZG 76 as an Einsatzarbeiter.
What's that?

Thanks.

Chris

Re: Einsatzarbeiter

I think that it should read Einsatzbearbeiter.

Thanks, but the question remains: what was he supposed to do?

Re: Einsatzarbeiter

From the Manual of German Air Force Terminology, bearbeiter= authority responsible, authority in charge or compiler. Einsatz is operational (or similar)

If Einsatzbearbeiter, it sounds like a person in a Staffel or Gruppen- team, which are planning a certain mission, what had shortly prior been ordered.

Like checking the wheather-dates and visibility of the target, the route, drawing the route into the maps, the kind of bombs and their fuzes, checking flak-ability along the route and the target, receive free frequencies for radio conversation, the number of aircraft ready for the mission, clearing the availability of fuel and the possibility to order more fuel, ammunition, the flying-personnel situation for the mission, teletyping the final-order to the respective units, e.t.c., e.t.c. e.t.c.

This sounds for me as a native German much for the term Einsatzbearbeiter

The same happend post-mission. De-briefing experiences of returning crews had to be evaluated, losses registered and many other things had to be done after the mission. Maybe a team of Einsatzbearbeiter were busy in this job, too.

But the term Einsatzarbeiter I've never heard in connection with Luftwaffe in WW II.

Best wishes !

Re: Einsatzarbeiter

Einisatz m fliegen to fly a sortie or a mission; (taktischer) tactical employment or use;

Einsatzbereit (takt) ready for action; Einsatzbereiter would perhaps be a mission planner

Einsatzbericht m (mil) mission intelligence report; Einsatzberichter would perhaps be an officer preparing such a report, as described in detail above.

Einsatzarbeiter or Einsatzbearbeiter - no entries.
