crash on the 15th may 1943 in Belgium

Hi to all,

I'ld like identify this allied aircraft :

- crashed/belly landed in Belgium, about 30 kilometers south-west Brussels
- on the 15 may 1943
- probably a non single seat, may be a B26 ( ? )
- without trace of the crew ( Evd ? ).

Unfortunatelly, no more information.
Thanks.

Chris

Re: crash on the 15th may 1943 in Belgium

Chris,

Can you give us the name of the place or town where this crash took place?

No MACR for a USAAF aircraft in Belgium that day......

Regards,

Leendert

Re: crash on the 15th may 1943 in Belgium

Nothing meets your criteria of date and place.

The nearest thing I can find is 14-05-43 and the loss of P-47 C 41-6382 Capt E E Mc Taggart of 78th FG which crashed at Enghien, 18miles (approx 30km) SW of Brussels. He evaded

There are a few others in Belgium on the 14th but not SW of Brussels

McTaggart's E&E report. He says his plane crashed and burned after he bailed out.

Re: crash on the 15th may 1943 in Belgium

Hello,
13/14/15 May 1943 there were at least three RAF Mosquito losses.
But I think all were fatal ?
Also a B17 - 42-29862. MACR 15557. Date 14th.
1 Kia, rest POW/Rtd.
Alex

Thanks 1

Yes, they are free. I just posted a way to find them easily on this link:

http://forum.armyairforces.com/threa...-crewmen.1385/

(See post #2 on the thread)

While the discussion concerned specifically B-26 E&E reports, the method described finds all 8th and 9th AF reports.

Hello,

When I try the link why do I get this and not the armyairforces page ?
The same happened in another thread in the armyairforces forum recently.
I get this -
http://www.freshjobsinindia.com/state/andhra-pradesh
Or this -

Alex, I just checked the links and they all seem to work for me. I have seen something similar to what you experienced and it must occur somehow during the DNS lookup or somewhere a redirect occurs down the "chain".

Re: crash on the 15th may 1943 in Belgium

McTaggart's P-47 crashed at Oeudeghien, 7 km NW of Ath.

Why the description of Chris makes me think about a 'Mosquito' somewhere near Silly... wrong way?
