Fate of 3 He 177 (1944)

Hello,

I am looking for the fate of these three He 177:
- He 177 (A5?) Wnr. 550257 GM + DA 6./KG 40
- He 177A-5 Wnr. 550199 F8 + DH 10./KG 40
- He 177A-5 Wnr. 550129 F8 + DX 11./40

One of these aircraft seems to have been damaged around Lyon (France) during summer 1944.

Could you tell me more?

Thank you.

JF

Re: Fate of 3 He 177 (1944)

full picture of this He 177 appears in French Ju 88 / 188 book (Pierre Dumollard), page 18, said be Ju 88 at Montelimar. Most likely an KG 40 machine (per camo scheme) this has bent back prop blade, suggesting power off belly landing and then plane burned/burnt out. This might have been Yellow D (or outlined only). Usually more info is required to indentifiy a certain crash (usually codes were reused, and a seriel be reqired) However my french is poor, so I can not comment on if location seems fit -Ed

Trouble I still with such vague information, if there were no crew casualties, it will be hard to work it out and a check of NVMs for KG 40 reveals nothing

Re: Fate of 3 He 177 (1944)

A possible He 177 is this one:
He 177A-3 WNr. 332213 from I./KG 40 which crashed near Lyon due to technical problems on 22.12.43 - crew safe and not reported.
