Two photos British Bomber Crashes needing IDs and stories
Hello,
Have two more British crashes, probable 39 or 1940 that I'm trying to ID and get their stories: 1) Hampden P2077 "KMoH" shot down and front burned out in German Territory 1940? 2) Wellington Poss last digits SN "57" "OJoJ" belly landed intact on tidal flat, possibly "Battle of Heligoland Bight" on 18.12.39. Can anyone help here? Thanx, |

Re: Two photos British Bomber Crashes needing IDs and stories
Without checking, 2nd one is probably P9218 shot down by Flak 21-22 Apr 40 attacking Aalborg. I have a series of photos from a KG 100 crewman of this aircraft inside and out

Re: Two photos British Bomber Crashes needing IDs and stories
Hello,
Thanks Chris and Leendert. Hans Nauta contacted me privately and provided the following info: "Hampden P2077 crashlanded near Valom (north of Uithuizen, province of Groningen, The Netherlands)." This pretty much gives the specifics, but does anyone know the "story" about the raid that the were on, and how the crew was captured. Did the crew FL then fire their aircraft? Chris, I would very much appreciate any additional "story" you might have on the other aircraft when you get a chance. Best wishes to both of you. |

Re: Two photos British Bomber Crashes needing IDs and stories
Thanks for the help! This nails the Hampden; as a result got 3 more photos of the crash plus found another unidentified one in my data base. Very helpful! Does anyone have any more particulars on the Wellington near Aalborg?

Re: Two photos British Bomber Crashes needing IDs and stories
Delmenhorst and Chris,
Thanks for the info, and the direction to the Airwar Denmark Website. I should have checked that when Chris gave me the clues about Aalborg and April, 1940. This website has excellent coverage of the incident. Regards, |

Larry: I presume you have all you need? I contacted one of the crew some years ago after getting the photos from Germany
