Abschuss MIG-1 17.Juli 1941
Looking for more info on Oblt.Strakeljahn 7./JG 77 who claimed a MIG-1
near Mogilev /Podolsk after this what he claimed a battle with 6 Soviet fighters while providing close air support to German Bridgeheads over the Dnejster .There are no Soviet records of a MIG-1 or MIG-3 losses on the this front section in the afternoon or evening hours . This entry is outdated.
In JFV Vol. 6/II is listed: 17.07.41 2.(J)/LG 2 Oblt Friedrich-Wilhelm Strakeljahn I-16 7th victory 06.07 confirmed. The I.(Jagd)/Lehrgeschwader 2 (= I.(J)/LG 2) was under the command of Stab/JG 77. Regards Leo |

Danke fuer den Hinweis . It does makes sense now because 88 IAP & 298 IAP which were covering the area were operating I-16's though on that day they did not report any losses . I was wondering if the victory really exist and if it did which other Soviet Regiment reported such loss . Gruesse aus der Schweiz Alex K |
