Luftwaffe claim : 26 June 1943 , B-17 near Dieppe

Hello gentlemen ,

Could someone help me solving this ? That day Pips Priller Stab/JG26 claimed his 91st kill at 18h52 near Dieppe . But Kurt Goltzsch 5./JG2 also claimed his 27st kill at 19h01 exactly in the same area . What is the truth ?
The bomber was # 42-30048 SU-K " Flak Dancer " 384th BG , lost at Gouchaupré . Lt Delton Wheat and his crew survived .

Thanks in advance ,

Zorglub

Most sources say that 42-30048 was captured more or less intact in Laon area.

According to the website http://francecrashes39-45.net/rech_avion.php, the bomber that crashed in Gouchaupré was 42-30037.

5 B-17s (all of 384th BG) were shot down during the mission, while German pilots made 6 claims AFAIK, so close to the mark: at 1805, 1810, 1830, 1844, 1854 and 1901 hrs.
If you can find Allied reports, these claims are over one hour so it could be possible to link losses and claims. But it is fairly possible that two bombers fell in Dieppe area to Priller and Goltzsc.

Re: Luftwaffe claim : 26 June 1943 , B-17 near Dieppe

Thanks Laurent but 42-30037 crash-landed at Deauville St Gatien airfield , victim of Fritz Karch JG2 .
There was no bomber lost at Laon that day , and I wonder what is the source ! Only one B-17 went down near Dieppe and was totally destroyed , and it was 42-30048 for sure ( account , escape report , local archives ... ) .

I wonder if JG2 and JG26 where in the same area at the same time .

Regards .
