Doesnt seem to fit to D-9. There's some good photos in the D-9 walk around from Squadron. There is no rivets like on this one, also I guess they would have been using rivets without pointy heads, they were concious about speed for the D-9. There's no proof that it is even German or wartime. Doubt they would have time or resources to paint the back-side of the air intake on an aircraft in 1944/45, especially since it likely would be destroyed within a few days/weeks so metal deterioration due to the elements was not the their main concern.

Could it be from a post war soviet aircraft?

Hey Tony,

Pretty sure the Ta154 was a bit more oval in shape... Just looking at pics...

I am convinced it is not German...but maybe someone else can ID another nation?
