Me 262 vs. 263 SQN Typhoons (24.6.1945)

Hello,

some time ago I was looking for info about clash between Typhoons and Me 262 - http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=10790.

The first even is clear, but second from 26.4.1945 is still little mystery.
Nothing in books, I was in contact with Niebüll town hall too. They have record about air attack this day, but nothing about crashed plane.
But now I found this report by John Shellard, one of victor over Me 262, there - http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...6th-April-1945 (posted by Alex Crawford). There is that P/O Morgan was shot down by Me 262 a and he was take to airport of this, victory unit. This unit really lost one Me 262, the pilot was ace with 60 claims. He was safe. Maybe they could be taken to Me 262 airport together?

It is interesting because in Schleswig was II./EJG 2, it is some 65 km to Niebüll. And in this time was probably still their commander Hptm Hans-Ekkehard Bob, ace with 60 claims.
Do you have some info about II./EJG 2 activities, or Hptm Bob late war career? I have some books about him, but end of war is unclear. Around this time he probably left EJG 2 and started transfer to A. Galland´s unit.

Second possibilities is 10./NJG 11 which was around Lübeck commanded by Oblt. Kurt Welter, ace with 63 claims. It had probably some clash with RAF on 25.4.1945, but it is some 185 km far from Niebüll. And it is night fighter unit.

So could be fight between II./EJG 2 and 263 SQN? Does anyone have more information? Or some idea?

Thanks!

Michal

Hi Michal,

I'm just looking through John Foremans 'The Messerschmitt 262 combat diary" and he mentions this combat with 263 Sqn in a short paragraph on page 176. I'm not sure I can list the details due to copyright, but he mentions one Typhoon force landing due to flak damage and the other three Typhoons destroying an Me262 at 3000' crashing at Niebull and the other Me262 escaping.

Thank you, I have all info about 263 SQN activities this day. Yes, P/O Morgan (Typhoon RB215) was shot down. All sources says he was shot down by flak. I am looking for possible Me 262 opponent. In all sources (books, internet) available to me is no info about this.
