213 Sqn claims, 23/3/45

Hi gents,

I'm trying to identify the pilot/s who claimed two FW 190s prob on this date. Additional details-like time/s, location/s, etc-would also be appreciated.

Cheers,

Bruce

Hi Bruce

What source are you using - "the Hornet Strikes"?

This op was not on 23/3/45 according to ORB it was on 24/3/45. On 23/3 a large number of aircraft had been observed at Gornje-Stupnik. The attack was made by 4 a/c from 213 and 4 a/c from 249 Sqn and took off at 1330 hours but found most of the a/c had already left just 5 were strafed on the day and the 213 ORB only mentions hits on one Fw190. The 8 Mustangs flew in line abreast across the a/f and as far I know no individual claims were attributed to any particular pilot. The 213 pilots were Straker, Thomson (mia), Robinson and Buchan.

Hi Steve,

The info was second-hand and I believe from 'The Hornet Strikes'. Thanks for those details.

Bruce
