Are you really sure with the date ?. There is a Mustang listed " 9:30 hrs, 4 km N of Vlamertinge" in KU 2375 on June 28th, 1944. Best wishes ! Horst Weber |

A link to MACR 8673 for the loss of Adolf Bielok in P-51 43-6868 on June 28 near St Omer is below. However a page from the German J-1527 report is included in the MACR and it gives the location of the crash as Vlamertinghe which is near Ypres.
https://catalog.archives.gov/id/91057854 According to the "Kenosha Evening News" of June 28, 1949 he was to be buried on July 1, 1949 in St George Cemetery, Kenosha WI. Find-a-grave shows his father, Lukas, is also buried there. https://newspaperarchive.com/obituar...-1946-1273579/ https://newspaperarchive.com/obituar...-1949-1273577/ Last edited by RSwank; 21st July 2019 at 13:58. |

Hello ,
Thank you both for your help.So the date must have been 06/28/1944.Vlamertine and Ypres is not so far away from the French-Belgian border so he must have been buried in Wevelgem who is also in the neightbourhood. Regards Alain57 |

See image 16 of 43 on this link (J-1527):
https://catalog.archives.gov/id/131513911 or image 15 of 285 on this link (AV-1096/44): https://catalog.archives.gov/id/18238566 He was buried in grave 475, Community Cemetery of Wevelghem on June 29th. Interesting is the next man listed on the AV report, "Hampshire", serial number 114329, who was buried the same day in grave 476. These next two casualties (graves 476 and 477) are from this loss: https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/72402 Herbert Robin Hampshire and Alan Melrose (141 sq) are still there: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/...obin-hampshire https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/...andrew-melrose Last edited by RSwank; 22nd July 2019 at 22:35. |
