He115 lost 18/19 June 1940?

Hi guys

I have an account of a Blenheim night fighter shooting down a He115 over the Channel on this night (18/19 June), possibly an aircraft of Seenotkdo as part of the ASR accompanying night bomber raids over the East Coast.

The seaplane was reported to have crashed into the sea with its port engine of fire. I cannot find any loss. Any ideas?

Cheers
Brian

The only He 115 loss, or any other seaplane loss for that matter on these dates, is He 115C W.Nr. 3258 of 3./106 on 18.06.40. It was reported 100% off the English Channel coast as shot down by enemy fire. No casualties reported.

Thanks Seaplanes,

Remi - I have no further details at present, apart from the fact date was night of 17/18 June (not 18/19)

Brian

The 604Sq claim was at 00.38H which should correspond to 01.38H German time and the place is listed as Ostend.

The machine appears to have been recovered as it shows up again a year later in the losses:

You are quite right Jim, I have the same info. It could be the same aircraft or a typo of the W.Nr.
