Fg Off Harper 101 Sqn

Again, anyone have initials or other details on this pilot. He was with 101 late 1940 until posted to 21 OTU Summer 1941

Went right the way back in 101 Sqn's F540 to April 1940 when a Plt Off C W Harper was posted in; I believe that this is now 42221 Clifton Watt Harper who would later be awarded the DFC with 113 Sqn and killed with this sqn in June 1942

Re: Fg Off Harper 101 Sqn

104 Sqn appendices show P/O. C.W.Harper as under instruction at the end of November 1939 and in December 1939, before his posting in to 101 Sqn 17/1/40. He is only mentioned once more in 101 Sqn records, as returning to unit from S.O.A.N. St. Athan 13/4/40.
Regards, Mark.

Re: Fg Off Harper 101 Sqn

Hi Chris, I have a photo and newspaper cutting concerning Clifton Watt Harper. He was born 30 Jun 1915 at Palmerston, Frontenac/Ontario. His Obituary says - a former schoolteacher of Northumberland County, he joined the RAF at the outbreak of war and had seen action in England, the Middle East, Java, Sumatra and Singapore. Awarded a DFC in Burma before being MIA. The RAF List seems to suggest he was commissioned 10 Jun 1939 ?
