Mediterranean Air War by Chris Shores

My copy has duly arrived via the postie and I can only echo all the positive comments made earlier. The book is outstanding.

This is one of the most detailed and comprehensive reference works I have seen and anyone who is deliberating a potential purchase, I can assure you that it is money well spent.

I am already looking forward to the relaease of volume 3.

Regards Richard.

Re: Mediterranean Air War by Chris Shores

I just got my book from Amazon yesterday. It is massive and the text information is packed on each page. So far in the first chapter it has started off with opinions of both German and British pilots but no Italians so far. I'm very pleased with this book especially after missing these books back in the 1960's.

Just a thought...How about posting an online errrata sheet for those annoying typos and such...such things as misspelled names, wrong serial numbers, missing words, you know what I mean. Wonder if this book is in Kindle?

Re: Mediterranean Air War by Chris Shores

We are still working on the manuscript for Vol. 3. Part of the problem is that the amount of source material for the period November 1942 to about April 1943 is limited; they didn't bring enough paper, typewriters and clerks with them. So it is difficult to tie the two sides together.

For Vol. 2 we made too many guesses about completing the manuscript, and final publication. We also turned in the manuscript too soon, and it needed additional editing. This time we plan to have all the authors in agreement as to when the manuscript is completed, before sending anything to Grub Street. I can say that the cover painting is in progress, and looks quite nice.

When we turn the manuscript for Vol. 3 in to Grub Street we will announce that. That does not mean that we will also announce a publication date at the same time. A publication date will probably wait until Grub Street decides the manuscript is ready for typesetting.

I think I can say that Vol. 3 will appear before George R R Martin's The Winds of Winter. But don't hold George or me to that. It may even be possible for us to complete the entire 7 or so volumes before A Dream of Spring appears. Maybe. Or maybe not.

Enjoy!

Frank.
