Data Plates Exposed #12: Fw 190A-4
Haven’t done one of these threads in a while (#11 was 7/06!). Since no Fw 190 plates were shown previously, let's resume with a truly classic aircraft.
This plate surfaced just recently. It had been “tucked away” since being removed from aircraft debris in a scrap yard in Limburg (Netherlands) in 1952. Yes, 1952! http://www.mediafire.com/i/?hd3k00hjyma http://www.mediafire.com/i/?e43ndmtt2mq Thanks to “tango35” (Thomas) and, in particular, Andrew Arthy, this much of the aircraft’s earlier history was revealed. W.Nr. 198 (or 0 147 198), a Fw 190A-4/U8, was built by Fieseler (Kassel - B) in 1942. It suffered 20 percent damage on 18 September 1943 at Tours airfield, France, while serving with the Erg.Staffel of Schnellkampfgeschwader 10.
