Plt Off Cook DFM
Can anyone help me with the initials or service number of this pilot who was posted from 101 Sqn to 21 OTU in Aug 41? I believe it was 758032 Sgt Bertie George Cook who became Plt Off 102974

Re: Plt Off Cook DFM
Hi Chris,
It does seem to be Bertie George Cook. The 101 Squadron F.540 for 27-6-1941 notes his commissioning to Pilot Officer, with his enlisted service number as above. The London Gazette issue of 6-6-1941 records the award of the DFM to this pilot of 101 Squadron. The 5-9-1941 issue notes his commissioning as a Pilot Officer with seniority from 27-6-1941. Furthermore, the 101 Sqn. ORB notes him on several occasions as 'P/O Cook DFM'. That seems to be a clear trail for this man. Regards, Martin Gleeson. |
