Re: Details of French planes interned in Spain

Hi Robert

What is your sources? Reason I am asking is that for example
LeO 451 No 388 was not accepted by the French until 10.7.1940. It also has a French record after 25.6.1940 when it belonged to both II/31 and later I/31.
LeO 451 No 393 lacks any acceptance date but is stated to have been "lost" on 20.6.1940
(See Cuny/Danel: LeO 45, Amiot 350 et autre B4)

The MB 174 was initially abandoned in a damaged state at Nangis, but was miraculusly repaired before capture by the Germans and flown out on 13.6.1940. However it was lost at Minorque on the 23.6.1940 when it no doubt tried to reach North Africa. The aircraft was still in Spain as late as 1.9.1942 (See Le Bloch 174 et ses derivés by Jacques Moulin)

Cheers
Stig

Re: Details of French planes interned in Spain

Hallo again

I have also checked the details for the Potez 540 given by Cortet and Coroller in a lenghty number of articles in Avions.

No 31 was interned at Majorque after engine failure trying to reach Alger
No 18 was interned at Mataro after engine failure, possibly on its way to North Africa as well.

Cheers
Stig

Re: Details of French planes interned in Spain

Hallo for the third time

I have also checked the Avions articles regarding the Mureaux 117 but for No 166 they only have this one as listed with GAO 1/514

Can we have your source for its mishap in Spain?

Cheers
Stig
