Spitfire wreck at Dunkirk?
Is this a picture of P/O K.G. Hart's Spitfire I, K9912, which landed on the beach at Dunkirk on May 26,1940? I
n FCL I, the code letter is listed as " O", but the picture clearly shows YT-K? Last edited by kaki3152; 7th June 2016 at 04:36. |

Re: Spitfire wreck at Dunkirk?
Not HART but SMART as follows:
28 May 1940 65 SQUADRON, HORNCHURCH Spitfire P9435. Belly-landed on beach outside Dunkirk with glycol tank damaged by return fire from Do17s of III./KG77 engaged during patrol over Calais 10.00 a.m. Pilot Officer Thomas Smart unhurt. Aircraft YT*K fired by pilot – a write-off. |
