Bomber RK-Holders Lost Nov 40

In addition to Oblt Von Schwerin from KG 26, at least one other bomber RK-holder was lost over UK in Nov 40-can someone remind me who?

Hi Chris,

Is this the one you are looking for?

Willi Schultz, Flugzeugführer 6./KG 30, 10.11.1940

I would not know anybody else that fits the profile.

Regards, Thomas

Re: Bomber RK-Holders Lost Nov 40

Here is what we have in our files:

SCHWERIN, Albert von.
(DOB: 11.09.04 in Janow).
1939-40 Lt. in I./KG 26.
31.07.40 Lt., awarded the Ritterkreuz.
19.11.40 Oblt. in 1./KG 26, KIA – in He 111 H-5 that snagged a balloon cable and crashed in Essex during a night raid on Birmingham.

Looking into the Kracker Archive we find some more details:

31.07.40 lost He 111H-5 (1H+AM), WNr. 3539.
19.11.40 KIA struck a balloon cable at 2800 feet, then a second cable at 4500 feet, tearing off the starboard wing, then crashed at Beckton Marshes and exploded – all KIA.

We hope that this helps.

Re: Bomber RK-Holders Lost Nov 40

Thanks Larry-31 Jul 40 for Schwerin? I have him in H-5, 3539, 1H+AH (AM would be 4 Staffel) on 19 Nov 40

Thomas:

You are right but the dates is wrong-curiously, like Schwerin, he was lost 19 Nov 40 in Ju 88 A-5, 0313, 4D+DP. Ofw Willi Schultz, Fw Heinz Schmidt, Ofw Rupert Drachhauer, Uffz Joachim Schätz all missing. The RK lists says 10 Nov 40 as his date of death and then the Kracker Archive says he was Gr Kdr of I/KG 30 in 1944! The Hptm Wilhelm Schultz who presumably was Gr Kdr in 1944 was possibly born 4 Oct 14-Willi Schultz was born 19 Aug 16

Many thanks both
