Ju 88D-1/CLi and Ju 88D-1/C???

Hi folks and all Junkers Ju 88 experts!

In Michael Holm's "Flugzeugbestand und Bewegungsmeldungen" are noted aircraft types Ju 88D-1/CLi and Ju 88D-1/C

see here September 1943

http://www.ww2.dk/oob/bestand/aufkl/b3ag33.html

Is it possible that these planes were Zerstörer Ju88C-6 with additional camera installation?

Cheers, Simon

No. These were Ju 88 D-1´s "Rustgrad C" (Long Range : Fuel tanks in both fuselage bays etc.) i.e. standard "Recce" fitted with Lichtenstein radar.

Hi Ed! Thank you for fast answer! Do you have an idea why 1.(F)/Aufklärungsgruppe 33 used Ju 88 C-6 till August 1943?

Hi Simon,

Ju88D-x/CLi means Rüstzustand C (long range) with FuG Lichtenstein.

Hope that helps

Martin

PS: the Ju88T-3 in late 1944 stood in the woods close to the military airbase at Wr.Neustadt 'Fliegerhorst West', details on that in 'Luftwaffe in Austria' to be published in 2012.
