FW 190 A-7 (340296) tactical markings

Hello,

Ordering a cover artwork, I would like to know if the tactical markings of FW 190 A-7 (340296) "black 30" would be :

<30+-

following the site http://rhorta.home.xs4all.nl/jgmark.htm of Our Great Host

when piloted by Oblt. Otto HUMMEL, Gruppe Adjudant of Stab II./JG 26 (+ 8/2/44)

What should have been the side exhaust 'camo' : the 'eagle', the tail of the 'eagle' or none ?

Thanks for confirmation.

Re: FW 190 A-7 (340296) tactical markings

I don´t believe the chevron was used. The high two digit number was used for staff planes from May/July '43 onwards - just remember Priller´s Kommodore plane Fw190A-5 WNr 7298 from Stab/JG 26 changing from <<-+- to 13-+- between May and July. 1x standing for Geschwader staff, 2x for staff I.Gruppe, 3x for staff II.Gruppe. This was not regular - some Geschwader seem to have kept the old chevron markings - especially in the east. Heinz Bär´s red 23 was a replacement for his red 13.
Concerning the eagle - I don´t believe there was time enough in February '44 to paint the eagle, which was in fact a free interpretation of a black paint area to protect the fuselage from exhaust stain. Maybe at least the black protection was retained. Prien's new JFV 13/I might include some photographs of JG 26´s Fw 190s of this time.

Regards

Thanks Roland for your observation.

So 30+- will fit.
Following Flugzeug-Uebernahmeurkunde, 340296 (SV+HR) was 'approved' on the 12/01/44 at the Bremen plant, so a 'young' bird until its loss. I will keep the exhaust 'eagle tail', just for the artistical side.

Best regards
