1st Dec.1943, loss of a Ju 52 "Mausi" from 1./MSGr.1, off Brittany coasts

Hello,

On 1st December 1943, a Ju 52 "Mausi" (Werknummer 3383), from 1./Minensuchgruppe 1, was shot down by RAF fighters, just off South Britanny coasts. Two questions :

- from where did this aircraft take off, for this mission ?
- which was its letters code ?

Thanks in advance

Pierre BABIN

Hello Pierre,

This Ju 52 MS was shot down by F.O JP Blackwell of 266th Sqdn, flying on a Typhoon 1B, near the Ile de Groix. It was probably a plane of 3 Staffel, which was responsible for the Atlantic coast from Brest to Biarritz.
The base was probably Vannes.
Sorry, I don't have the code for this machine.

Best regards

Marc

Pierre/Marc...

The codes for this machine would have been 3K+?H for 1.Staffel or 3K+?L for 3.Staffel.

Regards...

Paul

Hello Pierre,

The only details I have are Bm Ofw. Max Olschlegel (umlaut over O) killed, and Bs Fw Adolf Kasselkus wounded with the rest of the crew rescued unharmed. Do you have any details on the rest of the crew and who rescued them,

Regards

Brian Bines
