Junker 87 B

Hi All

Is it known how many Ju 87 B Junkers built?
In my list I have 0870615 as the highest number plus a dark horse WNr 0870.

Also was the final Weser built 87 B 0877069?

The WNr 0870 could well be a Weser built aircraft with the zero put in for good measure.....

Cheers
Stig

Re: Junker 87 B

Junkers built 372 Ju 87 B, starting around W-Nr. 0190-0200 and ending with 0573 as the last series aircraft that Junkers built.

The last real Ju 87 B was probably 0568 (export to Hungary as Ju 87 K-2). 0569/0570 and 0572/0573 were Ju 87 C-1, no information on 0571. Then you have to subtract various V aircraft for the Ju 87 D that were taken from the B series.

Your numbers 0615 and 0870 must be incorrect for Ju 87 B. Weser starting with Ju 87 B around 5070.

Re: Junker 87 B

Thanks Peter

Reason I asked is that I found a list of damaged/destroyed Ju 87 on the Eastern Front in 1941.

Snippets I have found put the first Junkers production of the B-0 model at 0870188 which is pretty
close to your 0870190/200.

At one point I stopped my list at 0870580. Reason for that is that Paul Zöller has stated that 0870581 - 0750
were cancelled C-1 production.

As always herrings seem to swim around and I was curious just why. So here are my herrings (hopefully red
ones....)

WNr 0600 Stkz CP+NQ I have put C-1?, probably because of Paul Zöller
WNr 0615 Stab/StG 1 damaged 40% 15 July 1941
Wnr 0870 5./StG 2 crashed 9 Jan 1940 (WNr listed only as 870)

BTW what is your opinion when only three digit WNr appears in lists? I have as you can see put them
with a zero in front, which doesn't seem correct.

Cheers
Stig

Re: Junker 87 B

Hi

My first Ju87B was WNr.0197.
WNr.0196 was Ju87A-1, Ju-Bernburg, ^23-28.06.38 (Bernburg, Einfliegen) - FB Steckhan.
WNr.0571 was also Ju87C-1 (source=KTB G.d.L.b.ObdM-OQu.03.41)

Stig: Your WNr.0615 was really 6159 (Ju87R-2), look RL2III/1177,page 85.

best wishes
JoMe

Re: Junker 87 B

I know these Russian lists. Unfortunately they are full of errors.
CP+NQ = Ju 88/4028

There are no Ju 87 in the 0870574 to 0870999 range.

Depends on...
If it is an early aircraft (A, B, R), then you can write 0, 0870573.
With the introduction of six-digit WNrs, things become more complicated. 216 can be 0870216, or 491216 or whatever- without a known subtype.

Re: Junker 87 B

Thanks Guys

Very much appreciated!!
Interesting deductions. No opinion on WNr 870?
If I venture a guess, I would say it is 0875870. Any verdict on that one?

Cheers
Stig

Re: Junker 87 B

Hello to you Stig. The actual number of the Ju 87B version produced can be found in the RLM Flugzeug-Programm Nr. 18 dated 1. November 1940. All B-series aircraft had been delivered before 30. October 1940.

Ju 87B-1 Junkers 311
Weser 386

Ju 87B-2 Junkers 56
Weser 169

Unfortunately these records does not give the Werk-Nummer series.

As for the Ju 87C-1 only five aircraft was produced, all by Junkers. They were
used as test aircraft for carrier operations onboard the "Graf Zeppelin".
