Test Pilots, by Wolfgang Spate
Picked up a copy at the RAF Museum shop, Hendon, today - reduced from £19.95 to £4.99 (whatever that is in funny money...)
Looks a bargain, covering from 1910 (Kurt Zwickau) to 1986! Includes pieces from 18 authors, including Hanna Reitsch (crash-landing a Me163); parachute and ejection-seat trials (Wilhelm Buss et al) plus details of trials of retro-rockets, rigid-tow gliders, troika-schlepp, etc; DFS280 testing and more... Plenty of photos - quality varies, since they and the texts are contemporary. Looks good to me at first browse - any comments? Tony

Re: Test Pilots, by Wolfgang Spate
It is a great book, its only weakpointn (IMHO) is the broad scope.
It would have been even better if Späte had concentrated on WW2 test flying and elaborated more on those parts which he did cover. Fine book and a bargain at € 7,20 (funny money)
