I have the following entry in the manuscript of the Nachtjagd Combat Archive series (due out with Wing Leader Publishing):
-61 Sqn Lancaster ND988: hit by 3.-8./schw. Flak Abt. 273, exploded and crashed at Wechte, 5 km W. of Lengerich at 23.15 hrs. Is there a crew photo available? You can contact me by PM. Cheers, Theo |

Re: 61 sqdn lancaster ND988 QR-E out of Skellingthorpe sgt H lea
After a long period of time I will be visiting the town of Wechte where Lancaster ND988 crashed on the night of September 23rd 1944.
It has ben a long and difficult task searching the internet using various forums and other websites to help gain information on this event. I would like to thank everyone so far and will update this thread with more information as I go. Thanks Mike |
