Poor planning was perhaps not the best of words. But having an escort
so clueless as to where they were going and so on, indicates, at least to me,
that better missions have been planned.

Unexpected weather is always part of long range missions and there must have
been rules as how to handle that.

The shortest "mission" (well read flight) I ever flew lasted about five minutes. At least I had the good sense to abort that day. If I hadn't, I wouldn't be sitting here today.
