Re: III/KG55 Losses Russia 22.6.41

Evening Norbert

Your list is slightly at odds with the book Kampfgeschwader 55 Greif by Wolfgang Dierich.
While he does not list any WNr and codes he lists some lost and wounded crews on other dates than you. Why??

Crew of Friedrich Raschka is on the 23rd
Crew of Alfred Gründer is on the 27th

He also adds that an individual named Karl Kappel was wounded on the 22nd by fighters.

He also it at odds against some of your spellings
Leonard Neidel and not Leonard Heidel
Karl Stander and not Karl Stauder
Michael Pichlmeier and not Michael Pichelmeier
Alfred Parpleis and not Alfred Parplüs

Comments anyone? Norbert??

Cheers
Stig

Stig, Dierich's book must be treated with caution regarding names spelling especially in the section dealing with losses.

Also (according to KTB) Gründer was wounded on 22th and missing on 27th June.

Re: III/KG55 Losses Russia 22.6.41

Sorry I was too quick and mixed things up Strictly, there is no mention of Gründer being wounded on 22th in KTB, only that his machine was s/d by friendly Flak and that crew survived. On 27th Gründer's a/c was s/d by Russian Flak by Lwow and the crew was MIA. Two parachutes were seen, one on fire.

Re: III/KG55 Losses Russia 22.6.41

The only thing I can say that my information is straight from the microfiche of the Bundesarchiv. I have no knowledge where Dierich got his information from. The data I presented includes corrections that were made to the original reports and I included this.

Regards,

Norbert
