Exclamation Heinrich Bartels Bf 109G-10 WNr.130359 “Yellow 13” 15./JG 27

Hello Again,

I was wondering how accurate this colour profile is, as I cannot seem to locate a photo of Heinrich Bartels Bf 109G-10 WNr.130359 “Yellow 13” 15./JG 27. As always, thanks very much.

IMHO, as a rule of thumb, never trust profiles unless backed up with a photo of the plane illustrated published together... too many guessworks (certainly not "educated" but often "wild") or wishful thinkings in this field.

To echo and reinforce my good friend Veltro's post, we have no clue as to how accurate the profile is. The wreckage was dug up some years back from a peat bog and all we know is the WNr. which indicates it was a Mtt G-10 with the small main wheels and likely a long tailwheel. It also had remnents of the yellow 13 and his wife's name. Also found was his wedding band with the initials. Other than that we have no idea what it looked like and any profile is purely speculative.

As the carnival barker says, "You pays your money and you makes your choice".

Thanks for the information guys! Is the above colour profile based on Werner Girbig’s Start in Morgengrauen (1973) book? Also, are there any photos of Mtt G-10's with JG 27 to compare to see if the paint/camouflage are simular?

Was there any pictures of Bartels Bf 109G-10 after they found it? Thanks.

IIRC there was an article in J & P years ago about the recovery and the photos were only of the pieces.

Thank you for the information. If anybody has access to that article or pictures of the wreckage and could post them, that would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for all the requests, but its a very personal matter to me.
