Late pilot s fate

On 14th July 1955 crashed a Thunderbolt in Ötztal, Tirol, Austria.
The unfortunate pilot was killed. His name is Kinney Charles,

perhaps from AU (stralia).
Do you have any more info about the mission, a portrait, grave location, why Australia etc.
We are compiling the sad event for the local museum with fotos of the crashed engine and propeller.
Many thanks for your replies.

Hi John,
Probably because the area was as I understand it still under French Control.

Re: Late pilot s fate

You may want to read some Austrian/local newspaper reports with more details about the crash:

https://anno.onb.ac.at/cgi-content/a...search&seite=5

https://anno.onb.ac.at/cgi-content/a...search&seite=7

You can find more by using the https://anno.onb.ac.at/ website (Austrian newspaper archives)

Regards,
Leendert
