Peter: I have never seen a list in all the years I have been researching and in any case, many if not most were shipped to Canada or USA

This is the National Archives' research guide about prisoners of war: https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/...cond-world-war

The introduction is not encouraging: "Very few lists of prisoners of war in British hands have survived and documentation providing biographical information is equally scarce."

Yes, definitely an under-researched area. I got to know several 'Kanadier', as they called themselves, including a couple who were in on the von Werra escapade.

Equally, I've not seen much but there is at least one interesting file.

AIR 2/6385 - Air Intelligence lists Nos 81-447(B) on enemy casualties and prisoners of war. Covers 1942 - 1945. Gives details of crew captured and whether dead, missing, wounded, unwounded etc. To a degree supplements information contained in the NVMs with more certain fates. Gives no details as to who ended up where.

Credit for finding this file belongs to Andrew Arthy.

You are welcome to PM me with details of the names you're interested in but please give dates of loss and I'll see what I can do.

There is also:

AIR 2/6194 - Enemy prisoners of war interned in British Dominions - 1941 - not yet reviewed. On my to do list.
