Re: captured hurricane photo ( UP-M )

Hi all,

is possible, that Sgt H.W. Pettit was shot down in combat with 1.(J)/LG 2 ? Only claim know to me is by Lt. Fritz Geisshardt ?
Geisshardt claim is sometime linked with Spitfire P7741 - pilot S/Ldr. E.J.C. Michelmore, which was KIA in combat - but I don´t know, if the time fit - Geishardt claim was 15:30 German time, but Biggin Hill Wing claim all victory about 13:55 UK time ….difference is 30 minutes or 1h and 30 minutes.

The wheels are chocked so doubt there would be tracks.

Re: captured hurricane photo ( UP-M )

Hi, My earlier error regarding codes was due to finger trouble compounded by other factors...!!!! However on examination of the front views it would seem that it has the half black colour scheme which if correct would place it before before June / July 1940.. so for me the search goes on..

Got it from here..
https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/thread...des-why.22071/

"It was used from 1938 up until June 1940, half white half black, for observation of friendly aircraft from the ground. Remember that there was no country-wide ground control radar. Radar only worked looking out to sea, or at higher altitudes, initially only being placed on coastal sites . Tracking over the land, friendly or enemy, was down to the Observer Air Corps.

It was replaced by Sky undersides, but in November 1940 the black wing was reinstated."
