205 Group RAF

Hello,
Any details known of 205 Group Operations on 18/19th March 1944 please.

I did think that the Group ORB was available on line but cannot find it, did I imagin it ?

Seeking a possible loss due to a collision.

Thanks
Alex

Re: 205 Group RAF

Hello,

Briefly:

Date: 18/19.3.44
Target: Plovdiv Rail Yards
Aircraft Dispatched: 53
MIA: 2*
Crashed: 1

The attack on the Plovdiv marshalling yards on 18/19 March (1944), was also spoiled by bad weather, and although some of the illuminators scattered their flares over the area in an effort to locate the yards, no aircraft was definitely able to identify the target

Re: 205 Group RAF

Thanks Col,

That was swift reply,
Confirms loss of a/c.

SNAFU noted,
Many had same names so fully understood.

I have seen that the 3rd a/c is noted as "crashed", so is it known if any of the attack force either crashed on take off or on return ?

Many thanks,
Alex

PS: the 205Group ORB that I have dates from 1943 to 1945, sadly does not have any details of 18/19 March 44. It jumps from 11/12 March 44 to 21/22(iirc) March 44.
