about Nowotny's 262 ...

Hi guys, long time no see.
I used the "search" mode but what I found brought more questions than answers so can someone help me ?
I take it from one of O Menu's posts that the 262s from Kommando Nowotny didn't have the yellow fuselage and engine band and most of them didn't have the wooden tail.
OK.
As usual Olivier's posts are well documented.
So here are my questions.
- many a book shows a picture of 262s, reportedly from kommando Nowotny, all with the yellow band. The "yellow 13" for example, or the "white 4". If they do not belong to K Nowotny, where do they come from ?
- what was Nowotny's plane ? can we assume it is the " white 8" W Nr 110400 as some model makers claim ? (I take it Trumpeter does ... with yellow bands and everything !)

Sorry for beeing one more bloke with the same questions ...

The Me 262's with the yellow band, ie White 4, 170061 were with III./EJG 2. There is no photo evidence of Nowotny's aircraft. It is only known that it was white 8, 110400.

oK. but some pics show 262s with a yellow band, and claim either "erprobungskommando 262", "kommando Nowotny" or "III/EJG2".
This one for example is labelled "erprobungskommando 262" :

and the "white 10" W Nr 170041, with a yellow band, is supposed to having been part of the three units ... in fact every picture I know labelled "erprobungskommando 262" seems to show planes with this yellow band ... thus leading to the following question : if only planes from III/EJG2 had the bands, how did the planes from the erprobungskommando looked like ?

Of course some 262s from Nowotny's kommando do NOT have the band (Schall's for example) but is it possible that some of them kept previous markings and camo ?
Thanks for your help.

Training Me 262's had the yellow band, and many EKdo 262 aircraft and pilots were later incorporated into III./EJG 2.

And yes EKdo 262 were the first to used this yellow band as shown on your post... Note that it was not used in the first days (or weeks?) so we know pictures from EKdo airplanes without yet the yellow band.

Re: about Nowotny's 262 ...

Gibsonfndr, I know you are new and you ask good questions. That distinctive rudder mottling you see all the time on profiles and models of Nowotny's White 8 are wrong. That was applied ONLY to a very few experimental wooden tails. No one, to my knowlege, has a photo of Nowotny's aircraft. It is a myth that I hate, and have tried over and over to stop. Only EKDO 262 and III./EJG 2 used the yellow bands.
Keep asking your good questions my friend, Dan
