Help to ID He111 photo with witch on fin

Hello,

I'm trying to identify this photo which just concluded an eBay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...0%3D%26fvi%3D1

I know that I've seen this witch insignia on the fin of an He111 before, but just can't place where it was. Can anyone jog my memory? I suspect that this may be 1G+FN of 5./KG27, but I'm not sure about that. Anyone know this particular aircraft, or remember a source for where the personal emblem has been published previously?

Thanx,

Hi Larry, this insignia appears in Waiss's Boelcke Archiv Band 3.
Purported to show He111P W.Nr 1417 of 4/KG27, code not listed.
Appears to be the same insignia!

Best regs,
Steve.

Steve,

Thanks Steve. I'd actually looked through Waiss Vol III before writing that post, but apparently missed it.

Obviously the caption info in Waiss is not correct. Has anyone else ever seen another source for this tail emblem, perhaps confirming the full a/c code? It would now seem that the code is G1+FN of 5 Staffel, if the identification as a KG27 aircraft is accurate. Good color profile material for the EOE book series.

Regards,

Hi, Larry...

Just a typing error I imagine, but code would likely be 1G+FN (KG27), and not G1+FN as your last post stated, as 'G1' was KG55.

Larry, does Walter Waiss not appear sometime on this board?
could it not be possible to check the source of this typo.

Also how near to fruition is the EOE book series, can we expect to see something in the near future?

Best regs,
Steve.
