The Hornet Strikes , History of 213 Squadron RAF
Dear enthusiasts ,
Remains of Hurricane P3350 have been found near Rouen , Normandy , early this month . From 213 Squadron ORB this plane had been flown by F/O Kellow in early June 1940 , then no more trace of P3350 . We think it was lost in June in France ( but maybe posted to another Squadron as reinforcement ? ) Could a nice fellow check the above mentioned book and see all operations flown on the June 1940 period , pilots lost , accidents ... if ever the plane was still operational with 213 ? Thank you , Zorglub . |

Re: The Hornet Strikes , History of 213 Squadron RAF
Re Kellow and his a/c in June 40.
Last mention of P3350 was when he flew her on the 4th. Following that date he flew a/c "H" on the 5th; a/c "J" on the 6th and a/c "E" on the 7th. |

Re: The Hornet Strikes , History of 213 Squadron RAF
Thanks Alex ,
That's the problem , either serial or individual letter in the ORB . We can't explain this plane here , RAF casualty not recorded ? Oddly we were looking at P3450 ( 501 Squadron ) lost in the very same area on 5 June . |

Re: The Hornet Strikes , History of 213 Squadron RAF
I think it is fair to say that although it is an interesting read, "The Hornet Strikes" is not particularly strong for those interested in aircraft serials.
For example, in Chapter Four to Six, dealing with the May40 to Mar41 period, not a single serial is mentioned. Appendix D - the Aircraft, is just a list of serials with annotations to show those lost in accidents or lost to enemy action. No details are given of dates, pilots etc. |
