Hptm Konrad Aschenbrunner 3/KG27

Hi guys, im currently working on updating my files on several Kampfgeschwader units notably KG27.

Can anybody provide any details of Hptm Konrad Aschenbrenner's service career whilst serving with this unit. Particularly interested in a/c flown,
decorations, and ultimate fate?

Any help would be most useful, or help with KG27 losses.

Rgs.
Steve.

Re: Hptm Konrad Aschenbrunner 3/KG27

Hi Guys

May I just point out the following
Checked two sources of mine, www.ww2.dk and Carlsen/Meyer's book Die Flugzeugführer-Ausbildung der Deutschen Luftwaffe Band 1.

According to www.ww2.dk the persons name was Kurt Aschenbrenner! I take it this is wrong and his correct name was Konrad? It also says he became Kommandeur on 14.6.40 until 11.7.41
As per Carlsen/Meyer his name was Konrad Aschenbrenner BUT the correct name of the unit he commanded was Navigationsschule Strausberg

Cheers
Stig

Re: Hptm Konrad Aschenbrunner 3/KG27

Your right about his last name beeing Aschenbrenner! My informations comes from his personel-files fra Aachen, so the date I mentioned taking command of KGr. 100 are the right one!. Navigationsschule Strausberg later became Navigationsschule der Luftwaffe, ending the war in Denmark.

Re: Hptm Konrad Aschenbrunner 3/KG27

Thanks Junker

Can you expand a bit about the name change (when + source) and move to Denmark? Carlsen/Meyer makes no mention of either. They say the school was moved to Hadersleben (which sounds German to me) 9.2.45 and was disbanded 28.4.45

Cheers

Re: Hptm Konrad Aschenbrenner 3/KG27

It moved to Denmark 09.02.1945 called Navigationsschule Hadersleben according to a WASt-Verlustmeldung! Hadersleben is the german name for Haderslev/DK in southern Jutland. Today the airfield belongs to RDAF and called Skrydstrup. In the "Raümungsbefehl Dänemark" from 9. of may 1945 it is called Navigationsschule der Luftwaffe.

Re: Hptm Konrad Aschenbrunner 3/KG27

Well it can be a bit confusing when using the Luftwaffenames for different airfields in Denmark. Skrydstrup is a small village wich Luftwaffe took over i 1944 so all inhabitants had to move. The buildings was convertet to Luftwaffe-use, and the airfild build right next to it. But they named it after the nearby town Hadersleben(Haderslev). Southern Jutland was occupied from 1864 to 1920 by the germans, so all towns/village had german names during this time!
