Damaged HE111 2./KG27 25 Apr 1944
I'm still trying to dechypher my Leistungsbuch.
The 25 Apr 1944 it is noted that their HE111 from 2./KG27 were attacked by 3 fighters and that the bordschütze and bordmechaniker were wounded. My guess is that the damage to the HE111 was minor as they landed at 11.25 from that mission and they took off at 23.30 that same night for their next mission. The mission where they were attacked by fighters was from Focsani Rumania to Tiraspol Moldova and back. Does anyone have a damage report for this? Perhaps the damage was too small to be reported. Thank you in advance Peter |

Thanks a million Matti!!
I am so very greatful. I will try to find the place Duca. Might the source be Walter Waiss Chronik KG27? If anyone is interested, the Beobachter on that flight was Leutnant Günther Baumgarten. Peter |

The loss is listed Waiss' 'Chronik KG 27' too, in Volume VI, p.62. Are you working from a FB for the pilot or one of the crew? If so, do you have a take-off time? Thx.

Re: Damaged HE111 2./KG27 25 Apr 1944
Jim,
I'm sorry, I missed your reply and question. I'm working from a Leistungsbuch for the Beobachter Günther Baumgarten, the time for this misson was 09.24-11.25 If I got it right, the notes says; Ortsfall S Tiraspol 20 SD50, 3200 m Treffer dürch jagdangriff im Rümpf, Fläche ü. Fahrwerk, bordschütze ünd bordmechaniker verwundet. Pls correct me if I got something wrong. Peter |

Re: Damaged HE111 2./KG27 25 Apr 1944
Hi,
the NVM (WASt.) and Walter W.'s KG 27 chronicle give additionally to the place name "Duca" the grid "Pl.Qu. 9741" (24-Ost). This leads to a point approx. 15 km south of Tiraspol, Moldavia. In the German map 1:300.000 V 47 Thigina, this point is named "I.G. Duca". In the modern times Google Earth the place is named "Copanca". Regards, Uwe K. |

Re: Damaged HE111 2./KG27 25 Apr 1944
Uwe,
Thank you very much. I only have "Deutche Heereskarte" from 1944 in 1:1000000 and I.G. Duca/Copanca is to small to show up in that. I'm very happy to get help with details on the missions in my Leistungsbuch, I have mapped all places mentioned in the book to Goggle Earth and you can follow the Russian advance in 1944 as it´s progress. There is now only one place I have problem seeing what it says, attached. Karl-????-ziel u. zur. Mäßige Flak Flügplaz ???? wird ???? angegriffen. ???? ??????. Best Regards Peter |
