Unteroffizier Bernhard Meyer - JG 52
Hi Guys - I'm looking for additionall information regarding Unteroffizier Bernhard Meyer of JG 52. From the help of the following website, I've been able to learn that Meyer had at least three kills - one in February and two in March, 1944
http://www.cieldegloire.com/jg_052l.php He was awarded the Iron Cross Second Class on April 25, 1944, probably as a result of these victories. Meyer went on to score at least two more kills - one on July 17 and one on July 23, 1944. According to this thread (post 7)... http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showth...bernhard+meyer he was wounded during air combat on the same day of his last victory. Does anyone have anymore information on Meyer? I'm assuming the wound was significant enough to keep him from flying again, let alone score anymore victories. Also, its interesting that, accoding to the limited info available, that he didn't shoot down any planes between March and July. I wonder if he was wounded in Spring as well, well before his July injury. |
