Re: 42-3030 confusion ?
Sean
Just one more question. When you quote the MACR report like this RO 35459089 Ralph D Bingham Sgt. OH 5 4 1943 B-17F # 42-3030 Missing over Atlantic Ocean on ferry flight from Marrakech to St. Eval. MACR 5662 FOD 20FrG/70FrS N O-664899 Louis A Koenig 2nd Lt. NJ 5 4 1943 B-17F # 42-3030 Missing over Atlantic Ocean on ferry flight from Marrakech to St. Eval. MACR 5662 FOD 20FrG/70FrS P O-501971 Kermit A Carte Capt. FL 5 4 1943 B-17F # 42-3030 Missing over Atlantic Ocean on ferry flight from Marrakech to St. Eval. MACR 5662 FOD 20FrG/71FrS CP O-501972 Wilbert Councill 1st Lt. LA 5 4 1943 B-17F # 42-3030 Missing over Atlantic Ocean on ferry flight from Marrakech to St. Eval. MACR 5662 FOD 20FrG/71FrS E 18120733 Edmund D Werner Cpl NM 5 4 1943 B-17F # 42-3030 Missing over Atlantic Ocean on ferry flight from Marrakech to St. Eval. MACR 5662 FOD 20FrG/71FrS how are the dates written? Are they spelled out, ie 5 April 1943 or written 4 5 43 or something similar? I just want to be sure we are not actually talking about 4 May 1943.... Cheers Stig |

Re: 42-3030 confusion ?
The ABMC database and the USAAF personnel database both have these men registered as lost on 5 April 1943.
https://www.abmc.gov/database-search http://www.usaafdata.com/search This crew is not listed in the USAAF "AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT AND INCIDENT REPORTS" list available online, I checked both dates and also 4 April (day of departure): http://airforcehistoryindex.org/data/000/877/133.xml http://airforcehistoryindex.org/data/000/877/134.xml http://airforcehistoryindex.org/data/000/877/145.xml This is probably because they are covered by a MACR and were lost without a trace, so no accident report was written for them. |

Re: 42-3030 confusion ?
Stig,
the data for the 5 crew came out of my database for USAAF losses. My db convention is DD/MM/YYYY. Sean Last edited by Sean Welch; 18th January 2019 at 15:26. Reason: Finished the message! |
