Heinkel 177 Balancing
Hello, after a long time I would have a question if someone knows it. It's supposed to be from Greif. It's a very heavy weight, 34kg. I think it's some mass balance. Thank you very much for your ideas. MT

Re: Heinkel 177 Balancing
This is probably a bob weight for the elevators. The Ju-388 in NASM collection has one, and I believe the DeHavilland Mosquito also had them. I will dig up an image of the Ju-388 and post it.

Re: Heinkel 177 Balancing
Go to the Ju388 site by Dr. Christoph Vernaleken.
The Inside View tab, the first image that is shown you can see the bob weight. It is that green object in the middle of the image. The Ju388 Bob weight seems to be some type of glass object. Tony Last edited by Tony Kambic; 14th June 2017 at 23:49. |

Re: Heinkel 177 Balancing
This is Static Mass Balance (taking out vibration/flutter), in the Ju 88 A-4/D-1 manual such bob-weight was located outboard of aileron control rod mechanism, and connected by a rod (Ju 88 had rods <Rörhe> for moving the control surfaces, not wires).
Tolesa, I did look out for the He 177 parts catalog on this, but just saw book for engine cowlings (177.620, 177.628 etc.) and some pages on fuel tanks (177.807). -Ed |
