Ltn Dietrich WEYERGANG 2/ZG76, 1(Z)JG77
Hi guys
A mystery surrounds Ltn Dietrich Weyergang, a Bf110 pilot who was killed in Russia on 5 July 1941. Photographs of the crash site clearly show at least 10 and possibly more victory markings on the fin, yet he is credited with only one. It seems that he was active during the Battle of Britain. Can anyone throw any light on his claims? Or, may he have been flying another pilot's aircraft when he was killed? Cheers Brian Last edited by BrianC; 6th October 2018 at 13:20. |

Bf 110 claims for 1940 are incomplete hence the lack of a positive response. Not sure he was 2./ZG 26, I Gruppe being disbanded after 15 Aug 40

Robert
As far as I can judge, this is completely new information. Care to expand your details with dates, places, aircraft claimed etc, or at least state your source? According to all publications I have (including a masterlist from Johannes) Weyergang had only one known claim. Cheers Stig |

Hi,
No microfilm with claims of most ZG units so no information's in Johannes masterlist. My details of his claims are not confirmed so I will not show them now. Robert |

OK Robert
Not even your source? The way it stands now, your statement is more or less only heresay and it would be great if we could upgrade at least part of it to a more solid footing. Cheers Stig |

Re: Ltn Dietrich WEYERGANG 2/ZG76, 1(Z)JG77
Hi,
My source is a research of a German aviation historian. This is not a book, file or document. His research was started many, many years ago probably basing on interviews with veterans, their logbooks, diaries etc. Regards Robert |

Re: Ltn Dietrich WEYERGANG 2/ZG76, 1(Z)JG77
OK Robert
It is obvious you don't want to state your source, so no more pushing from my side. So for the moment I will list Weyergang as five possible claims during the BoB. Cheers Stig |
