Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6/R4

Hello,

Did any of you came across Bf 109 G-6/R4 in any loss list?
They are supposed to be G-6/U4 modified by WNF to carry MK 108 gun pods (Rüstzustand 4) and I wonder if their designation was really changed or if they remained named G-6/U4. They intended to rebrand these aircraft G-6/U6 but that I believe for sure never took place.

Regards

A G-6/U4 with Rüstsatz 4 would still be a G-6/U4

Not Rüstsatz, Rüstzustand (which change the aircraft's designation unlike the field kits).

In the C-Amt Monatsmeldung for 1944, I found no listing for Bf 109 G-6/R4 neither in Neubau nor Umbau.

adding gunpods is no Rüstzustand even if they were only compatible with the /U4

Strengthening wing ribs 6 and 8 to absorb the more powerful recoil from the 30 mm cannons and the modification of the electrical system and instrument panel support weren't modifications done at unit level but at factory so it was a Rüstzustand. Read again my sentence "G-6/U4 modified by WNF to carry MK 108 gun pods" I am talking of the modification, not the gun pods themselves which can be removed (or re-added on aircraft compatible) on the field. These gun pods were compatible not with all U4, but some modified U4 which should have been called R4 but look like they weren't.
