Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers

Clint,

You do realize that edwest2 and others have been posting e-bay pics with links here for a number of years, yes? Rather than being critical of others posting the same links as yours, maybe you should consider adding your findings to that ongoing thread?

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure most of us appreciate your work. I certainly do. But again there is a long-standing thread for same. And there are certainly missed items not in that thread, and your additions would very much welcomed there I'm sure.

I usually tend to look for e-Bay items on my own using https://picclick.de/ and a number of queries using that app that I've found pretty inclusive over the years. But there are always a few items that escape notice and generally show up here or elsewhere.

Hello Jim

Thanks for your response.I respect your right to search where you will for your information. However, I believe the central point of my last post is elided, it requires merely common politeness to check whether other posters have already posted a link, let alone a series of links, indeed that it what teamwork looks like. You recommend that I post on an already existing thread. Again if you are happy to do so, then I accept that that is the right choice for you. However, my own view is that the standard of the posts in that thread falls below a level I find acceptable, therefore the duration of the existence of that thread is not a relevant criteria in deciding where I will post and I will not be posting on that thread.

Regards,

Clint

Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers

Hello!
@Clint, ZS 2 is only one possibility for the Ar 96 **+YY. Also possible:
2./ ZG 101 Laupheim 20.03.44-01.06.44
III./ZG 101 Laupheim 01.06.44-26.07.44
JG 113 Laupheim 15.07.44-15.10.44
II./JG 106 Laupheim/Risstissen 15.10.44-22.04.45
Surely this list is incomplete! There will be many more! I found 8 entries to Ar 96 **+YY at www.stammkennzeichen.de.
The at Ebay shown picture was taken before 17.12.1944,because on that day the old city of Ulm was nearly complete destroyed by a bomb raid.

Herzliche Grüsse aus Oberschwaben,

Wolfgang

Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers

Hello,

Thanks Wolfgang. I only went with ZS.2 as the same seller had on offer at the same time some photos of Bf 110s (see above),at least one of which was a possible ZS.2 machine, but on reflection, no doubt you are correct and if I had more information they too can be shown to have flown with several possible units.

Meanwhile on 06.02.21 here are some more trainer photos from the same seller:

Praga E.241 NG+ZC

Focke Wulf Fw 44 BB+EJ

Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers

Hello,

Currently on ebay is a photo of a Gotha Go 145 TI+HT at:

https://www.ebay.de/itm/Fotos-Flugze...gAAOSw-r1gIoVk

Its captioned as being in Sicily. It has a E-Stelle Rechlin related Stkz, and I assume the aircraft is shown there? Alternatively is it known to have served in Italy? The seller has a set of three photos of Italian aircraft:

https://www.ebay.de/itm/Fotos-Flugze...cAAOSw4uBgIoYl

Perhaps this has led to the confusion?

Regards,

Clint

Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers

Clint

TI+HT has been recorded as both the Fi 167 V1 and a Go 145 (both used by E-stelle (See) Travemünde).

I can't see any reference for the Go 145 though and somehow I get the feeling this one you have found is actually TL+HT (TL+HS was a known Go 145....)

But as usual I am open to corrections....

Cheers
Stig

Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers

Hi Stig,

I did consider TL+HT, but Stammkennzeichen.de has it as a Bf 108 B-1 recorded with several units. Like yourself I'd seen the TI+HT used in conjunction with the Fi 167 V1 in among other sources German Secret Flight Test Centres (I should have put Travemünde not Rechlin though - bad record keeping on my part).I the went to:

https://web.archive.org/web/20140508...rg/stam-t.html

which does have both the Fi 167 and Gotha Go 145 under TI+HT and the latter is marked under photographic evidence with a 'green rectangle'. Also,as you'll be aware both TI+HU and TI+HV are jnown to be Go 145. So, like yourself, I'm open to corrections, but for the moment sticking with TI+HT as being the Stkz shown.

Regards,

Clint

Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers

Aha

Well I cannot access the Stammkennzeichen.de so I don't know why TL+HT has been listed as a Bf 108 with them.

But, if Luftwaffe could record two aircraft (TI+HT) with the same STKZ then they could just as well record two aircraft as TL+HT

Once you begin to doubt the single use of every STKZ issued then you can begin to doubt every STKZ where, in a photo, you cannot see the complete letters....

I am sure someone with access to relevant FB will step in and say what it really is we are looking at.

Cheers
Stig
