Italian pilot Eudo Parmiggiani/Evdo Parmeggiani
Hello,
Eudo Parmiggiani (http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/italy_parmiggiani.htm) took part in the Italian attack on French airfields on 15 June 1940 and was reportedly shot down and seen to parachute to supposedly becoming a PoW. However, according the citation to his Medaglia d’argento al valor militare, he was awarded this posthumously (gazetted 1940 and verified in 1946), i.e. he was reportedly KiA at this incident. To complicate things further, he isn’t mentioned among the Italian’s KiA in the official database. His name is given variously as Eudo Parmiggiani and Evdo Parmeggiani. Is there anyone, who can verify his correct name and fate? Best wishes/Håkan

Re: Italian pilot Eudo Parmiggiani/Evdo Parmeggiani
Parmiggiani Evdo, 1916-1940, is included in the list of the killed/missing R.Aeronautica personnel in the cemetery of Reggio Emilia, his birthplace.
The name is always written Evdo, even though this name doesn't exist. Because sometime the "v" is employed as "u" as it happened in the antique roman inscriptions, perhaps his parents read Evdo and gave him this strange name. Gianandrea |
