KG6 loss 22nd/23rd February 1944

Dear researchers,

I'm aware of the difficulties concerning 1944 losses but perhaps somebody has details of the next loss on file:

22nd/23rd February 1944
Junkers Ju.88A-4
3E+?T
9./KG6
FF: Uffz Friedrich BIEBERSTEIN (MIA)
BO: Fw Heinrich ERNST (KIA)
BF: Fw Karl LANDENBERGER (MIA)
BS: Uffz Hans EXNER (MIA)

Crashed into the North Sea while on a night raid to London. The body of Fw Ernst washed ashore on 6th May 1944 in the vinicity of beach pole 8.8 near the coastal hamlet of Groote Keeten (some 5 miles S of Den Helder), The Netherlands. His body was buried two days later at the cemetery of Bergen and after the war reinterred at Ysselsteyn, The Netherlands.

I'm looking for the Werknummer and individual letter of this aircraft.

Thanks in advance and kind regards,
Hans Nauta

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your quick answer. You mean the WASt report has been partially burnt?

Regards,
Hans

Chris,
Whenever the message is too short, simply pad with "Turkey trots to water" and/or "The world wonders". Although, as once before, it may lead to some confusion!

Frank.

Hi Chris,

Well, that means it will get more difficult to retrieve the Werknummer.

By the way, are there any Erkennungsmarke of the crew legible? I've only one, that of Fw Ernst: 53565/195

Thanks in advance,
Hans Nauta
