Bomber loss over Emden

Gents,

Once again hoping someone can put a name to a claim on June 20/21st raid on Emden.

A 218 Sqdn Short Sirling HA-Q W7530 was shot down at Wognum, 5 kms NNW of Noorn, Holland at around 01.50hrs. The pilot was the squadrons A Flight Commander S/Ldr Ashworth DFC.

Can anyone put a claim against this loss and confirm any details.

Thank you

Steve

Re: Bomber loss over Emden

Hello Steve,
Refering again to the NJWD, the following is written:
218 squadron Stirling W7530 Lt Johannes Werth (1st abschusse) of 7./NJG2 4km NW Wognum, NW Hoorn (notice spelling, ie not Noorn) at 02.00
Regards
Max

Re: Bomber loss over Emden

Max,

Thank you again.

I think I need to get both volumns, too late for Christmas and the wife just brought me another Border Terrier, so I think washing up and ironing for the next few months is on the cards

All the very best from a rather chilly Hampshire.

Steve
