There are no records of a He162, "8" in Kassel. There was however a "white 3, WNr.120028" and a "yellow 6, WNr.310017". Maybe it is one of the two. See http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showth...t=16871&page=3 The "4" is a different story: "White 4, WNr.120067", originaly captured by the british in Leck, this plane was shipped to Kassel for planned for shipping and evaluation to and in the US. Howerver, only the wings made it to the US and were mounted on "white 7, WNr.120022" that later became FE-493. The fuselage of "white 4" seems to have been scrapped in Kassel. "White 7, WNr.120022" (FE-493) and "Yellow 6, WNr.310017" (FE-?) were brought to the US.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
This was done to ensure the were scrap and not sold en revived to airworthy by another un-wanted party.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
I think it's more likely the location is Ibsley rather than Issley. Ibsley is a long disused aerodrome on the south coast of England.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Adittional Info on AX772:

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hi,
I wonder if it wasn't one among the many JG53 machines received by JG300 ... Cheers, Franck. |
