Hi Mihai -
I. Gruppe/KG 200 was responsible for transporting Abwehr (intelligence) agents behind enemy lines, and between 600 and 1,000 were inserted between June 1944 and March 1945. Operations were carried out by widely scattered Kommandos (detachments) which were components of the various Staffeln. As an example, on 10 January 1945 I./KG 200 had over 50 aircraft distributed in a half-dozen or so Kommandos operating in direct support of various fronts. The secrecy imposed on the Gruppe’s personnel was onerous: all personnel assigned to I./KG 200 were required to sign a special security declaration swearing to never divulge the nature of their work to anyone either during or after the war.
All of the Ju 252 transports belonged to the Geschwader's 1.Staffel (Ferneinsatz-St. – Long-Range Operations). The Ju 252 in question may have been part of an operation similar to this one:
11/12 Jun 44: Operation “Salzsee” (“Elista”?) part 2 - a 1. Staffel Ju 290A-4 (9V+HK), transported 30 Kalmucks under the command of a second German Hauptmann from Zilistea/C Romania to the Elista area in North Caucasia to join the first contingent, which was believed to have landed safely, but after landing all from the second team were immediately rounded up by the Russians and the aircraft captured. A Ju 252 search plane (V-8 marked T9+SK) was sent out from Zilistea several days later, but failed to return on 14 June. In sum, the “Salzsee” Operation and radio “game” that followed cost 1.Staffel two Ju 290s and a Ju 252.
