Unit of Fw 190 F-8, W.Nr. 587108 "White 48" --> EJG 1?

Hello,

Are there any known photos of Fw 190 attached to EJG 1 in 1945?

I am asking as I am trying to identify the unit of Fw 190 F-8, W.Nr. 587108, "White 48". I am suspecting I./EJG 1, but I did not find any photo of a EJG 1 that would support this.

Also, any Flugbuch entry could help identify the colors of the different Staffeln.

Roger

Hello Roger,

in Carlsen / Meyer's Die Flugzeugführer-Ausbildung der Deutschen Luftwaffe, part II there is a picture on page 222 which shows a row of 11./ EJG 1's Fw190A (among them a "white 43") in January 1945 at Schönfeld-Seifersdorf.

Best regards

Hello Schlageter,

Thank you for your message. I have found a few other Fw 190 with a very similar style of tactical code, but I have not yet seen the photo of White 43 you are referring to. Would you mind to send me a scan / smartphone picture of that page? Unfortunately, I don't own that book.

Does the caption state the reason for the assumption/ statement that the aircraft belonged to EJG 1?

Best regards,

Roger

Are you quite sure about the W.Nr. you quoted. I have a large number of Fw 190F-8 produced by Arado with W.Nr. starting With 586--- and 588--- but not a single aircraft with W.Nr. in the 587--- series.

Yes, I am sure, the W.Nr. is very well visible on photos I published in my book "Captured Eagles Vol. I".

There is an old thread here at TOCH that I started when I was researching the aircraft.

100% sure. Old eBay auction, March 2010. 6 photos in the batch.

There two other W.Nr.'s known too --- W.Nr.587111 (VY+KO) and W.Nr.587137 (CV+YZ), transfered in April 1945 from Neubrandenburg to Neuruppin (FB Erler).

Ouidjat,
Those two images are new to me! Roger has published most amazing images of this bird in his publication but these two were not there although people in the photos are same as the ones in the booklet.
Were there any more images of the same bird on Ebay that are not present in the booklet showing some more interesting details?
Regards,
Milos
